Built in 1926, The Chesterfield blends into a neighborhood of luxury homes with its Spanish-Moorish style established in Palm Beach by famed architect Addison Mizner during the 1920s. Wrought-iron railings and terra-cotta-tile roofs trim a rough, pale-pink stucco exterior. Only little red-and-white striped awnings and a polished-brass sign disclose that the mansion-like building is a hotel. Entry is through an intimate courtyard. Housekeepers wear red carnations, a hotel signature.

Hallways are carpeted in the hotel's signature leopard print, clad in bronze-and-silver striped fabric, and lit by hurricane-lamp-style fixtures. Room decor features pinks and greens, including floral bedspreads, throw pillows, and white-wood crown moldings. White-wood closets with pink piping flank beds, creating fabric-lined recesses for matching upholstered headboards. Antique-style furniture, including desks, comes with brass hardware. Wall prints feature African animals and tropical plants.
