Set between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this Art Deco boutique-size 1936 hotel is in the middle of Miami Beach. The boardwalk, a half-block from the hotel, runs parallel to the ocean from 42nd Street (where the hotel is) down to the beginning of the official Art Deco District. So guests can walk down to South Beach on the boardwalk for restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
The lobby of the Ocean Spray Miami Beach Hotel contains the original terrazzo floor. Art Deco “eyebrows” (layers of ledges above the doorway) are visible on the exterior. Renovated and re-opened in 2003, the Ocean Spray has new, clean, furnishings, many European. The front porch contains Philippe Starck Bubble Club patio furniture. Guests receive a daily complimentary breakfast, and fruit and beverages are available all day, free of charge.

The hotel can arrange airport transportation (surcharge) by request. Taxis, rental cars, and shuttle vans are the most common means of airport transfer. Transportation options are available on the ground level of the airport terminal, outside the baggage-claim area. Shuttle service to the hotel costs $16–$25. Getting around: From the hotel, guests can walk a half-block to the boardwalk and the beach beyond. Many hotels and several restaurants are in the area, but not as many restaurants, shops, and sites as in South Beach. Travelers may want to take a taxi the 1.5-2 miles to South Beach or walk south on the boardwalk for 10 blocks and then continue on Collins Avenue. A typical taxi ride to South Beach should not cost more than $10. Public buses and the Electrowave Shuttle serve tourist areas in Miami Beach (less than $5) but travelers may wait awhile for either bus. Guests headed into downtown Miami should drive or take a taxi.
