What to expect: Duck Key comprises five islands joined by Venetian-style bridges. Occupying one of the islands, Hawks Cay Resort is a residential/resort/marina featuring West Indies-style buildings. After a $35 million renovation (spring 2008), the resort offers a plethora of water sports along with multiple pools, the newest featuring a tiered sun terrace with access to the private saltwater lagoon. Hawk's Cay draws active families and celebrating couples.

Amenity highlights: A calm, private lagoon provides saltwater swimming, and guests can interact with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins inside their saltwater pen (surcharge). The 85-slip marina offers overnight slips, fishing and boat charters, snorkeling, Jet Skiing, and other water sports. Amenities include a full-service spa, conference facilities, fitness center, restaurants, and clubs for children and teens.
