Getting around: Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Airport is distant from malls, attractions, nightlife, and access to the beach, making a car necessary.
Driving the area’s main arteries east-west (to both coasts) and north-south (Fort Lauderdale to Miami) is typically smooth and fast. Traffic is much slower along A1A but A1A provides the best scenery. Even more water views are enjoyed from the water taxis which stop along the Intracoastal Waterway and the New River into downtown Fort Lauderdale. Fares are $5–$15 per day.
